Peripheral artery disease treatment
Proof of arterial disease consists of blockages and circulation in the legs. So like you can get blockages in the heart, you can also get blockages in the legs. This can lead to pain in the legs and, ultimately, amputation.
Traditionally doctors used bypass surgery to bypass blockages over the past couple of decades doctor had new technologies where the doctor can go inside of the blood vessel and open up the blockages with balloons stents shaving out the plaque drilling the plaque, there’s a lot of different technologies.
Because traditionally, all doctor could do is do an angiogram, which is injecting dye into the blood vessel and looking at the blockage from there. The problem is you sometimes when you’re cleaning the plaque out you don’t know exactly what the pain, you’re in. And the doctor just erroneously can shave out not only plaque but healthy tissue as well.
Panthera is a new technology that allows us to look inside of the blood vessel while doctors are cutting the plate. So, this is a unique technology doctors have never had anything like it before.
How Panthera is Works
So being able to visualize the artery and visualize the plate as doctor shave it out can mean several different things, first of all, improve safety. So, the doctor can only shave plaque and not shave healthy tissue and a normal artery.
The second thing is the doctor hopes that by removing plaque only and not disrupting the rest of the blood vessel will improve the patency and the ability to that blood vessel to stay open for more extended periods.
So just like traditional endovascular procedures, their outpatient process, the patient comes in one the day they get prepped at the hospital in the pre-procedure area.
Doctor do the process takes about between an hour to two hours to do the procedure the patient has bed rest for a couple of hours, and they’re up moving around, and they can go home the same day.
Usually, the doctor recommends three days of no heavy lifting or no driving. Then they can go up back to their utterly regular activity within a couple of weeks. They won’t even see the scar.
Who is a candidate?
So, Doctors determine if a patient is a candidate for and Panthera by doing the initial angiogram, then the doctor can look at the block and see what it looks like if it’s amenable to using pan theorists.
The doctor can do the procedure at the time.
